Two-time Olympian Olivia Smoliga Launches In Depth Swimming Academy: ‘A Passion to Bring Something New’

A resolution from the Illinois General Assembly recognizes Olivia’s decorated swimming career and her ongoing commitment to inspiring the next generation through In Depth Swim Academy.

Two-time Olympian and Illinois native Olivia Smoliga was officially recognized by the Illinois House of Representatives for her remarkable accomplishments in and out of the pool. The resolution, introduced by Representative Tracy Katz Muhl and adopted on March 11, 2025, celebrates Olivia’s extraordinary career and her continued impact on the sport of swimming through the creation of In Depth Swim Academy (IDSA).

The resolution highlights Olivia’s legacy as one of the most accomplished American swimmers of her generation — from breaking national high school records in backstroke and freestyle, to earning Olympic gold and bronze medals at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Games, and capturing eight gold medals at the 2018 World Championships.

Beyond her accolades, the Illinois General Assembly recognized Olivia for her leadership and dedication to helping others pursue their dreams. Through In Depth Swim Academy, she continues to guide and mentor athletes across the country, combining elite swim training with mindfulness, mental resilience, and personal growth practices designed to help young swimmers reach their full potential — in and out of the water.
